Pinegrave: A Cryptid Hunt title over a campfire at night beside a tent and log seats

An indie game made with Godot 4.7.2

Pinegrave

A Cryptid Hunt

The legends are real, and somebody has to prove it.

You arrive in Pinegrave, a small mountain town where everyone has a story and nobody has proof. Armed with a camera, a flashlight and a plaster kit, you set out to document the creatures the world says don't exist.

The hunt unfolds

Hunt by night

The 21-minute cycle shifts from 7 minutes of daylight tracking to 14 minutes of night hunting. Daytime is for following tracks, taking plaster casts, collecting samples and buying supplies. At night, trail cams pay off, encounters escalate, and cryptids hunt back.

Document everything

Snap handheld photos checked for distance, framing and light. Cast footprint tracks, retrieve trail cam captures, bag hair and scale samples, and interview town residents. Bank it at the camp tent door.

Something hunts back

Pushing too far into the dark brings warning throws, stalking shadows and swooping dives. Get caught at night and you wake up at the trailhead, minus that night's unsaved evidence and a piece of your gear.

First Windows build in testing

A first Windows PC build is in internal testing. It runs under Wine on Linux but has not been tried on real Windows yet. There is no public download yet: it is coming soon.

atmosphere

The eerie update

Eight atmosphere features, scaled by a new Eerie Intensity setting: woods that go quiet before contact, distant knocks and howls with direction, rolling fog in the swamp and lake, Mothman static, eyeshine at the edge of your light, trail cam almost-catches, town rumors that grow, and a dread swell. Scary, not full horror.

performance

Performance pass

A code review focused on efficiency, then fixes: cached scene lookups, foliage that only rebuilds when its density changes, footprints that stop ticking once cast or expired, a faster way for Bigfoot to find tree cover, and lighter HUD and town UI updates.
